CANopen is an open protocol based on Controller
Area Network (CAN). It was designed for motion oriented machine control networks but has migrated to various industrial applications. CAN in Automation (CIA) is the international users� and manufacturers� organization that develops and supports CAN-based protocols. Numatics� G3 CANopen nodes have an integrated graphic display and are capable of addressing combinations of up to 1200 Outputs and 1200 Inputs.
